Strange But True

So, late last night I had an unusual dream. I was part of a group that was wishing the world happy holidays no matter their religion, race or culture and a prosperous new year. Then the dream went off in a different direction. Somehow the group seemed to have a single mind and spoke with one voice. What about what other people were thinking and feeling? Who was there to speak to and for them? What do you say to those who are over-whelmed by everything that occurred last year that led up to the holidays.

The group voice said that they did not have an answer but felt all of the pain, confusion, fear and concern. The group wanted to absorb all of those feelings and emotions but recognized that they did not have the capacity to do so. They did, however, understand that maybe people wanted to hear that they are not nameless and faceless and not collateral damage. The group accepted the awesome responsibility of feeling for someone losing their job, a family going hungry, or being forced out of their home and generally cast aside. And of course, losing loved ones to COVID.

The group also wanted to reach out to congratulate couples celebrating anniversaries, additions to their families and all the other achievements of daily life.

I am trying to understand the dream and can only feel that it is a hopeful message and a cautionary tale. Life will and must go on, as long as everyone is given a chance to recover. Some cannot benefit at the expense of others. If we do not achieve some equity no one will emerge unscathed.

Oh! and by the way……..wear the “Damn Mask!”
